STORMHOUSE BREWERY - BREWERY NUMBER 2

The second brewery that I visited this year is:

STORMHOUSE BREWING
1201 US 1, #15
North Palm Beach, FL 33408
561/323-4172
January 4, 2023

For my review, and for rankings, the scale is:  (1) beer quality (taste) (1-20); (2) beer quantity (number available) (1-10); (3) beer varietals (differing types) (1-10); (4) atmosphere (look, feel and vibe) (1-20); (5) service (self-explanatory - hopefully) (1-20); and  (6) miscellaneous (personal preference) (1-20).  This will give me a 100 point scale to reference, and I will keep a running ranking of each of the breweries throughout the year.

Another brewery that is fairly close to home, I frequent this place fairly often.  Stormhouse is a brewpub, with a full kitchen, so you can come hungry and still be well pleased at its elevated bar food menu.  A large open, semi-circular shape, with glass all along the front between a patio section and the inside.  Lots of televisions to watch games (it is a Florida Gator alumni watching bar), but not overwhelming to the point that it becomes a sports bar.  It is at heart, a brewery.

Like most breweries in the area, it offers live music, trivia night, in addition to the aforementioned Gator-watching bar.  But, the one thing it does completely different is its boots and beer night, with country line dancing.  Although I do not participate, I recognize the creativity of this night and the popularity among those that like line-dancing.  In this picture you can see how open the inside of the brewery is on such a night.

Stormhouse brews a large number of beers, as well as a wide variety of styles.  They currently offer 16 of their own beers on tap, kolsch, lager, amber, IPA and stout.  I have had a number of these in the past, but for this sojourn I had the Witch Please!!! (a spiced pumkin ale) and MacDaddy Stout (surprise, a stout.)  My entry on these beers can be found here.  In short, the MacDaddy is awesome.

Service was great, which is always the case when you sit at the bar, but not always the case when  you sit at a table.  That, as always in the service industry nowadays, depends upon staffing.  I forgot to write down the bartenders name to include in this piece, so I may go back and re-edit at a later date.

If you like college football, don't miss a Florida Gator game (football game) here (unless you just can't stand blue and orange.

RATINGS

BEER QUALITY - TASTE (1-20)

Some of the beers here are absolutely outstanding - like the MacDaddy Stout and the Path of Destruction Imperial IPA (although I have not had that yet THIS year - and those that aren't outstanding are still pretty good.  Let's say, SIXTEEN (16/20).

BEER QUANTITY - NUMBER AVAILABLE (1-10)

A good number available on any given night.  EIGHT (8/10).

BEER VARIETALS - NUMBER OF TYPES AVAILABLE (1-10)

A good amount of variety at all times, so go with friends who have different palates.  NINE (9/10).

ATMOSPHERE (1-20)

Because it is a brewpub, it can have a bit of a restaurant feel, which for the purposes of THIS blog is a negative.  The Boots and Beer night bolsters the atmosphere.  FIFTEEN (15/20).

SERVICE (1-20)

On this visit - excellent.  As stated earlier, I have had some issues with service while sitting at tables in the past, but that did not occur this time.  EIGHTEEN (18/20).

MISCELLANEOUS (1-20)

College football a big plus, as is Boots and Beers.  Trivia night is ALWAYS packed, if not always competitive.  Only real downside is it feels restauranty.  FIFTEEN (15/20).

OVERALL (100)

Doing simple mathematics, Stormhouse rates 81 (out of 100).  This places it second (to date) in my rankings.

RANKINGS

1.  Coastal Karma Brewing - Lake Park, FL - 84
2.  Stormhouse Brewing - North Palm Beach, FL - 81
