May 31 - July 28

Ok, Ok.  This quarantine is getting to me.  I have been drinking beers, and I have been keeping brief notes on those beers.  But, and this is a big but, I have not been keeping up with entering them into the blog.  Thus, I have a lot of beers to enter, but limited specific memory other than my notes.  Anyway, I do this for the rankings more than the descriptions.  I am going to try to promise to update this more regularly so that I don't have to remember so many beers, and beers I drank from weeks or months before posting.

168.  Kua Bay IPA - Kona Brewing Company, Kona, HA - 7.3% ABV

The best of the Kona IPA variants, and I really like the others as well.

169.  Decklins Indulgence Chocolate Peanut Butter Brown Ale - Big Top Brewing - Sarasota, FL - 6% ABV

We often see and taste chocolate, peanut butter, and chocolate AND peanut butter in stours and maybe a porter or two.  To have one in a brown was unique and this one is particularly delicious.  I could not have more than 1 or 2 at a sitting, but it is very good.

170.  A Pirate's Passion - Passion Fruit Wheat - Islamorada Beer Company - Islamorada, FL - 4.9% ABV

This is delicious!!!!  The Passion fruit flavor is strong, but not overpowering and meshes well with the traditional wheat beer flavor.  My notes also just say +++!

171.  Angler House Amber - Islamorada Beer Company - Islamorada, FL - 5.0% ABV

Pretty good, but not great.  Noticeable flavor of caramel with hints of coffee.  Would have it again, but not if better amber options were available.

172.  Key Hoppin' IPA - Islamorada Beer Company - Islamorada, FL - 6.5% ABV

Yes, I was in the Florida Keys on vacation, so we stopped by this brewery.  So, several different varieties in a row made it into my consumption blog.  This IPA was initially very good, but somehow lost a lot of its flavor as you continue drinking it.

173.  Buzz on Vanilla Coffee Stout - Islamorada Beer Company - Islamorada, FL - 6.7% ABV

A pretty decent stout, but not much vanilla taste.  If this was a regular stout, it might rank higher, but if you are going to call yourself a vanilla coffee stout, I should taste both vanilla and coffee.

174.  Queen Conch Raspberry Summer Ale - Islamorada Beer Company - Islamorada, FL - 5.3% ABV

This was good, but it had the bad timing of being consumed after the Pirate's Passion, and it paled in comparison.  Still a really good summer ale.

175.  Oceanside White IPA with Grapefruit - Tokoma Brewing Company - Lakeland, FL - 7.1% ABV

A truly outstanding beer.  This is a great take on the original Oceanside, as the grapefruit adds great citrus scent and flavor.

176/177.  Mermaid Lager - Narragansett Brewing - Pawtucket, RI - 5% ABV

This sucked.  I mean, I know Narragansett sucked, but I was at a nice small bar/restaurant with a great seafood based menu run by Eastern Europeans in Key West called the Thirsty Mermaid.  They had a Mermaid Lager on tap - which they admitted was brewed for them, but they didn't know by whom.  I ordered one and it was plain and horrible.  I looked it up and it was a Narragansett.

178.  Fire Hog Red Lager - Hop Life Brewing - Port St. Lucie, FL - 5.2% ABV

Malty goodness.  I am going to classify this as a lager because it definitely is not an amber by the brewer's comments, but it tastes delicious as if it is.

179.  Tru-Man Double IPA - Waterfront Brewing - Key West, FL - 9% ABV

This Double IPA is heavy in flavor, and heaving in ABV, but light enough to drink on a hot summer day.  Named after the fact that President Harry S. Truman used to vacation in Key West, even during his terms as President, and the first true "Winter White House" is in Key West, not in Palm Beach.

180.  Junk Yard Dog Brown - Mathews Brewing - Lake Worth, FL - 5.4% ABV

This is a very tasty beer, and is - I think - one of the very best at a brewery that is known for a very heavy, hearty, eclectic selection of cask ales, ESBs, and other strong, delicious beers.

181.  DOJ IPA - Twisted Trunk Brewing - Palm Beach Gardens, FL - 6.7% ABV

A really solid IPA.  And, super local to me.

182.  Time Stands Still Amber Lager - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL 6.7%

So I was in Ocala for a work trip - yes a work trip in June during a pandemic, but hey, it's Florida.  At least I found a brewery that was virtually empty (due to the pandemnic).  Over great, as you wll see in my ratings later, but this beer was not a good start.  My notes say simply, "Booooooo."

183.  One Hit Wonderful IPA - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 6.7% ABV

Really good.  (That is all my notes say).

184.  Whittemore Raspberry Wheat - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 5.2% ABV

Really good.  Very raspberry-ey, with a hint of raspberry color too.

185.  Saint Dismus Belgian Blonde - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 5.6% ABV

My notes say "Meh".  Going into the ales, because in essence, this was a blonde ale.

186.  Saint Dismus Dubbel - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 7.6% ABV

Still Meh.  A stronger meh, but meh.  But, as apaprently this is my first dubbel of the year, it gets first place (for now).

187.  Everyday is Saturday Kolsch - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 5.2% ABV

A good Kolsch.  Solid beer.

188.  Vils Pils - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 4.4% ABV

This pilsner was extremely tasty and refreshing.  If I wasn't nearing my trip to this brewery (and wanting to try other beers) I would have stayed with this one all day.

189.  Rose Cheeks Fruit Beer - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 5.5% ABV
This was surprsingly good.  I was not expecting this to taste as much like beer, but the fruitiness is not overwhelming.  Similar to the fact of drinking red wine - made of fruit, hints of fruit, but tastes like wine.  And, it has a nice red wine finish.

190.  Feeling Strangely Fine Saison - Hiatus Brewing - Ocala, FL - 7.6% ABV

Very good.  An extremely strong after taste that really makes the beer.  High abv for a saison.

191.  Treatment Belgian Wit with Blood Orange and Hibiscus - Kelsey City Brewing - Lake Park, FL - 5% ABV

This is really good.  The hibiscus really separates this from other wits.

192.  Mangonia Florida Weiss with Mango and Passionfruit - Kelsey City Brewing - Lake Park, FL - 3.8% ABV

Very interesting combination, with strong flavors of mango and passionfruit. Not subtle at all.

193.  Wave Runnin' Double IPA - Civil Society Brewing - West Palm Beach, FL - 8.5% ABV

This is a very delicious hazy double IPA.  My big question is do I list it as a double IPA or as a NEIPA/hazy.  I think I will list it as a double, since most of the other IPAs from Civil Society are hazy.  This is going into last place, but only because this category is small, and very strong!

194.  Camo Double IPA - Civil Society Brewing - West Palm Beach, FL - 8.5% ABV

Very similar in taste/quality/smell/look as the Wave Running', and it opens up the same questions.  This is going into last place, but only because this category is small, and very strong!

195.  Fresh - Civil Society Brewing - West Palm Beach, FL - 8.5% ABV

This is the flagship beer of Civil Society and it is what they are known for - a great hazy IPA.  This one is delicious.  The only drawback is that almost all of their beers taste like Fresh.  (Not ordinarily a bad thing, unless you are looking for variety).

196.  Got 'Em Double IPA - Civil Society Brewing - West Palm Beach, FL - 7.8% ABV

Honestly, I cannot tell if it is all of the doubles I have had so far, or my concentration on our bar trivia match (spoiler alert - Tasteful Side Boob won, by a lot), but this was a bit better - although still similar - to the others.

197.  Sunshine State Pale Ale - South Beach Brewing - Miami Beach, FL - 5.4% ABV

A refreshing, easy drinking pale ale.

198.  Neon White IPA - MIA Brewing - Doral, FL - 7.5% ABV

I absolutely love this beer.  A great combination of a strong, hoppy IPA, with the refreshingness (copyright as of right now) of a white.  Delicious.  Because of the ABV, I consider it an IPA in my rankings.

199.  Asam Bock - Weltenberger Brewery - Weltenberg, Germany - 6.9% ABV

Heavenly.  (See what I did there?!)

200.  Easy on the Eyes Session IPA - Intuition Brewery - Jacksonville, FL - 4.5% ABV

Pretty good, not great.  Pales in comparison to the next entry on the list, which I drank on the same day.

201.  Party Wave Limited Release NEIPA - Intuition Brewery - Jacksonville, FL - 5.5% ABV

This is really, REALLY good.  And from a can!

202.  Grums NEIPA - TO OI Brewing - Copenhagen, Denmark - 6% ABV

Meh.

203.  Double Trouble Double IPA - Twisted Trunk Brewing - Palm Beach Gardens, FL - 7.2% ABV

This is a strong beer, that tastes like it.  It is delicious, and it tastes hoppier than its 73 IBUs.  But in a very, very good way.

204.  Blood Orange Sunset IPA - South Beach Brewing - Miami Beach, FL - 6.7% ABV

The combination of the blood orange to balance out the hoppiness makes this a great IPA.  I love IPAs generally, but the blood orange makes this one more refreshing that normal, and one that I can drink outside, on a hot day, at a ballgame or at the beach.  Would be great with some chicken or shrimp fajitas!

205.  Chocolate Porter - 81 Bay Brewing - Tampa, FL - 6% ABV

Luscious and rich.  Coffee comes through in addition to the chocolate.  A phenomenal heavy beer, which I had post-dinner relaxing out by a pool (maintaining social distance, of course).

206.  Coconut Sombrero Mexican-Style Chocolate Stout - Clown Shoes Brewing - Ipswich, MA - 7% ABV

It is name Coconut, but vanilla and chocolate also permeate this fine tasting stout.  This is delicious, just not as delicious as the previous beer, which I had on the same night.

207.  Iced Coffee Blonde - Blue Moon Brewery - Denver, CO - 5.4% ABV

OMG - was I surprised at how delicious this tasted.  My main problem is how to categorize it.  Blue Moon says, "A blonde-colored wheat ale with bright coffee aroma and mild malt sweetness for a balanced taste and clean finish".   This would make it seem like it should still be in wheat ales, but it could be a blonde.  It is so unique, that I am classifying it as a specialty beer.  If I am wrong, so what, it is my blog.

208.  Breakfast Stout - Founders Brewing - Grand Rapids, MI - 8.3% ABV

For years, the standard-bearer for stouts, this still holds up very well.  It has bitter and imported chocolates, and is brewed with two-types of beer, giving this a well-rounded, much deeper and richer flavor than other stouts.  Amazing.
